Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber win Teen Choice Awards

LOS ANGELES -- Selena Gomez conjured five wins at the Teen Choice Awards -- one more than boyfriend Justin Bieber.
The star of “Wizards of Waverly Place” was selected as choice TV actress, female hottie and music group with her band The Scene. Gomez and her ensemble were also awarded the choice single trophy for “Who Says” and love song for “Love You Like a Love Song,” which the 19-year-old actress-singer performed at Sunday’s freewheeling fan-favorite ceremony.
“This is for all of you guys,” Gomez told the screeching crowd. “This isn’t mine.”
Bieber, Gomez’s 17-year-old actor-singer boyfriend, picked up four surfboard-shaped trophies as choice male music artist, male hottie, twit and TV villain for his “CSI” guest starring role. Other multiple winners included “Glee,” “The Vampire Diaries,” “The Twilight Saga,” “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” Robert Pattinson and Taylor Swift.
“I feel like it’s been a long time since I was a teenager, like, two years,” Swift joked.
Swift tied Gomez with five awards: choice female music artist, country female artist, female red carpet fashion icon, country single for “Mean” and break-up song for “Back to December.” The 21-year-old crooner was also honored for her contributions to entertainment with the Ultimate Choice Award, the show’s version of a lifetime achievement award.
“The Big Bang Theory” leading lady Kaley Cuoco hosted the 13th annual extravaganza at Universal Studios Hollywood’s Gibson Amphitheatre. Between dispensing awards like candy, Cuoco battled “Chuck” star Zachary Levi in table tennis, danced alongside “America’s Best Dance Crew” winners Poreotix and jokingly quizzed teenagers about current affairs.
There were moments of seriousness amid the silliness. Sean Kingston made his first live televised appearance since recovering from injuries he suffered after crashing a watercraft into a Miami Beach bridge in May. Demi Lovato, who entered a treatment facility last November to deal with “emotional and physical issues,” was on hand to accept two awards.
“You guys are what got me through this last year,” she told the audience.
Other winners who picked up surfboard-shaped trophies included Cameron Diaz as choice movie comedy actress for “Bad Teacher,” Ellen DeGeneres as choice comedian and Ashton Kutcher as choice romantic comedy movie actor for “No Strings Attached.” Before leading the crowd in a singalong of Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream,” Kutcher provided some topical advice.
“Don’t ever charge anything on a credit card if you don’t already have the money in the bank to pay for it,” he said.
The ceremony ended with a tribute to the “Harry Potter” film franchise. The final two installments apparently bewitched online voters, winning such categories as choice sci-fi/fantasy movie, liplock, villain for Tom Felton and summer movie star for both Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe, who accepted his surfboard via satellite from New York.

Bieber accepted his surfboard from pal Sean Kingston, making his first public appearance since a very serious Memorial Day Weekend jet ski accident.

Amid breakup speculation, Selena Gomez joined Bieber at the awards ceremony, taking home a few surfboards of her own. The Teen Choice Awards 2011 aired Sunday at 8 p.m. on Fox.

“SHAWTY MANE!! I'M BACK!,” Bieber tweeted, with a link to the new song. Chris Brown released the mixtape on Friday on his website. "Ladies Love Me" was produced by David Banner.
Shawty Mane, Bieber’s rapping alter ego, made his appearance on the mixtape, rapping about performing and even gives a shout out to his mom.
“Baby I'm not crazy, I got swag like Patrick Swayze. Y'know them haters never faze me, that's not how my momma raised me,” he raps.
Many fans wondered what Brown and Bieber could have been working on when they were spotted together in the studio last month. Boy in Detention also features Dawn Richard, Wiz Khalifa, Swizz Beatz, Kevin McCall and Tyga. Producers include DJ Chuckie, 9th Wonder and No I.D.
“Whoa there baby you just need to stop. I’m busy out performing and I’m going to the top,” Bieber raps in the track.
Bieber debuted Shawty Mane on Cam'ron and Vado's "Speakin' Tungs” last fall. He’s also rapped with friend Sean Kingston on the song “Won’t Stop.” Bieber has also said that he will appear on Asher Roth’s sophomore album.

Never Say Never (which hit theaters February 11) bested Michael Jackson's This Is It to become the most successful concert-themed movie at the domestic box office in March. It also topped the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales charts the week it was released on DVD in May (though it only hit the number 3 spot for Blu Ray).
Says Butcher, "DVDs are actually holding their own right now. Blu Ray continues to be the growth format and continues to pick up steam, which is great."

Don't let the squeaky clean image fool you--Justin Bieber can flow. The teen pop sensation, known more for his radio friendly hits than his mic skills, is dusting off his hip-hop alter-ego "Shawty Mane" for a slew of new projects.

First, there's a guest rap on Chris Brown's "Ladies Love Me," a remix of his hit "Look at Me Now" which surfaced this week. Then the announcement that he will also be providing guest vocals (and we don't mean a high-pitched hook) on an upcoming Asher Roth track. Last Fall, Bieber rapped over Cam’ron and Vado’s track, “Speaking in Tongues” as Shawty Mane (earning surprisingly good reviews from the hip-hop community) and covered Busta Rhymes' verse from “Look At Me Now” onstage with Breezy.

But Beliebers don't need to get their tidy whities in a twist--Justin has made it clear that Shawty Mane is just an amusing distraction for him. “I just do it for fun, but nothing serious,” he told XXL. “I don’t think people would take me seriously if I came out with, like, a rap album.”

Justin Bieber has passed Britney Spears and sits second with the most Twitter followers. Lady Gaga still leads and Barack Obama is fourth.

Justin Bieber is now the planet's second most twittered human as on Tuesday Jan. 4 2011 he vaulted past Britney Spears in the Most Twitter Followers category. Bieber sits now right in behind the leader, Stefani Germanotta, a.k.a. Lady Gaga. Spears is now in third.
Both Gaga and Bieber are hot commodities that have taken off in 2010 as Famecount, an online site that tabulates such statistics, notes that Lady Gaga herself only overtook Spears in August of 2010 and that Bieber, who at this moment sits at 6,514,615 followers, had only one million at the start of that year.

Counting Fame: Barack Obama Behind Justin Bieber

Famecount's website says that it "...aims to help you locate and connect with the Stars in each of the major social networks (currently Facebook, Twitter and YouTube)" and that it is an independent company and not affiliated with Twitter, Youtube, Facebook or any service.

The Twitter graph kept at Famecount shows that out of the Top Ten being followed by Twitter users on Earth, seven are women. Bieber is keeping pretty good company on the chart as another male making the top ten happens to be the U.S. President, Barack Obama, who sits in fourth place, as of this writing with 6,225,466 Twitter followers. Ashton Kutcher is the other male in the top ten in fifth.
Other women in that top ten are actress Kim Kardashian (6th), Ellen DeGeneres (7th), Katy Perry (8th), Taylor Swift (9th) and Oprah Winfrey (10th). Selena Gomez, recently seen in photographs in a bikini getting cozy with Bieber on a yacht - reportedly in St. Lucia, Bermuda - is down the list in 19th.

Bieber's Fame: Diminish or Grow?

Now that the 16-year-old Bieber appears to be in an intimate relationship with the 18-year-old Gomez, this after both denied it, his numbers may decrease as there has been negative reaction from his fans. But like Gaga, who has a new album, Born This Way, coming out May 23, Bieber is also constantly keeping himself in the news with releases, appearances and tweets.
The Canadian singer and celebrity, who lead the world in most Youtube views in 2010, also has a major release upcoming, a 3D documentary called Never Say Never that was directed by John Chu and that comes out on Valentine's Day, February 14 2011.

Sometimes it seems that a day without Justin Bieber news is like, well like pretty much unheard of. The facts are that on September 27 2010 there were four, count 'em, four (4!), Justin Bieber news stories.

None are as earthshaking as Bieber winning Best New Artist at the MTV Video Music Awards or Bieber appearing on CSI: Las Vegas or Bieber maybe, or maybe not, going out with Jasmine V. Or actually one of them might be a little earthshaking. Let's go from the least earthshaking news on Justin Bieber on this single day to the most.

Billboard Names Top 21 under 21

First up: A monkey must have gotten into the machinery of the music biz pollster Billboard. Why? Because somehow Justin Bieber did not come out on top of the Billboard 21 under 21 list. Rather the singer who was interrupted two years ago at the MTV VMA by Kanye West and then wrote a song about it, Taylor Swift, got the nod.


Bieber was second and Selena Gomez third. Actor Will Smith's daughter Willow was in number seven spot and Miley Cyrus was way down in 10th. Billboard said the 21 were selected for their "potential to rule the pop culture zeitgeist over the next 12 months" and that Swift won because she is "...geared up to hit the music world like a tsunami. Brace for the impact."

Bieber the Actor Wanted by Glee Singer

Lea Michele, a star of Glee who knows a bit about singing herself, told E! online over this weekend past that she thinks Bieber would be a natural to be on the show. Does that mean he is coming on Glee this season? Well all summer the producers of the show have made a point of saying they aren't saying what exciting stars are scheduled for appearances in their second season so we wouldn't have been told if it's true. So...who knows?

"I don't know about Justin Bieber coming on the show," Michele said at a PETA fundraiser on Saturday September 25. "but he would be awesome."

Bieber twittered on Sunday to his fans that the video for U Smile will be out in "three days time". The song is a hit and it's anticipated that the video will be, too. It reportedly shows Bieber trying to convince a fan to be with him.

“In 3 days U SMILE video comes,” he wrote yesterday. “And I took the opportunity 2 make a video 4 the fans, about a fan, and how we could fall IN LOVE. Love Grows. #LoveGrows.”

Bieber Talks About Dating a Fan

Finally, Bieber, in his latest twitter, tweeted on Monday the 27th that he would date a fan. First, he says he would have to get to know her but naturally that seems to be stating the obvious. As to whether he ever meets fans in anything but a superficial manner he said nothing.

"I get asked all the time would I date a fan and my answer I would date whoever I fall IN LOVE with, and yes that could be a fan," our man Mr. Bieber, 16, tweeted. "My fans and i we LOVE EACHOTHER. But to be IN LOVE with someone u need to get to know them personally,"

Sincere? He's been honest in the past but who knows. Besides it's not likely to happen anytime soon as he's on record as saying he's too busy for a girlfriend now anyhow. Hear that, Jasmine Villegas?

Justin Bieber Sings Katy Perry, Talks Selena Gomez on Degeneres

The rumor mill is nothing new to Justin Bieber, it comes with the territory. On the Ellen Degeneres Show he was upfront when asked about Selena Gomez.



Being a pop star you are gonna get thrown into the rumor mill and Canadian singer Justin Bieber has had his share of that. In September a tourist in Venice, California, she was reportedly from Canada herself, took a photo supposedly of Bieber kissing Jasmine Villegas in the backseat of a Honda. Naturally the photo found it's way to the internet and likely most readers have seen it.

Neither Villegas, an opening act at Bieber concerts, nor Bieber had much to say about that one. He hasn't said much about the rumors connecting him with Demi Lovato, either.

However the rumor he has dated 18-year-old American actress Selena Gomez he has commented on. Or sort of. While on the Ellen Degeneres show Wednesday, November 3 2010, his hostess teased him about the rumors he and Gomez, star of Disney's Wizards of Waverly Place, had a couple of dates.

Bieber, who has demonstrated many times that he has a pretty good sense of humor, was clearly okay with being teased and in fact he was pretty upbeat about it. He told her that he liked to date girls just like "any other 16-year-old boy."

Football Game and Selena Gomez

She asked if he had ever gone to a football game with a girl, a leading question given a rumor last week was that, along with Jaden Smith and his Dad Will Smith, he'd gone to a high school football game in Moorpark, California with Gomez. He admitted they had both gone to a football game but suggested she just happened to be there. He was smiling and Degeneres was clearly enjoying grilling him.

"She just happened to be at the same game you were at?" Degeneres asked.

"Yeah, it was the weirdest thing," Bieber smiled. "No, she's sweet. She's a sweetheart." His hostess let it go at that and didn't ask him if they were seriously dating or ask about the two of them going out for ice-cream recently.

Bieber was on the show in part to promote his upcoming acoustic album due out November 23 and his new book. Other highlights of the Ellen Degeneres show, which Bieber was last on after his Best New Artist Award at the MTV Video Music Awards on September 12, included Mr. Bieber giving Ellen a dance lesson.

During the interview she asked him what songs he might have going through his head when he lays down to sleep at night and he said he really liked Katy Perry's Teenage Dream. He wound up doing a couple of verses of Perry's song and some teen girls, who were sitting in the audience, did a great job of singing along.

It is not known how legions of tween and teen fans think about his hitting the dating market. In October he released a video of his hit U-Smile and in the world of the story of the video he dates a fan but so far names he's been linked to, other than his former girlfriend from home, have all been part of the entertainment industry.

New Batch of Untrue Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez Stories

They seem to come along every couple of weeks now, a new round of stories online about Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez breaking up. The morning of August 6, 2011 brought a new barrage and this time the stories have a racist element, but we'll get to that in a bit. In a few days these same 'news' sites will have stories of them getting back together.

And on it will go.

Justin and Selena are breaking up because he's hanging around with a bad element and she doesn't like that, that's the line of these new stories. Selena laid down an ultimatum and though the thought of losing her caused Justin to break into tears - yes, they say that - he refuses to give up his friends. He left Florida after her concert with the relationship over. Wow, great scoop.

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez: Breaking Up?

Hard to say which of the dozen or so sites that ran a story on this 'break-up' was the first to print it. A site called the 'Hollywood Dame' went with it, so did 'Gather Celeb News' and other obscure sites. Some should know better, like the U.K.'s Daily Mail and Canada's Winnipeg Free Press. Both these publications are daily papers with a history, the Mail's been around about 115 years and the Free Press for nearly 140.

A hallmark of these stories is that the sources are never named. The information is from a 'friend' or something 'allegedly' or 'reportedly' happened. Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez probably brush off these kinds of stories, have a laugh and move on. This time it may not be so easy to do because this time, arguably, the stories are racist.

The thrust of the stories is that Gomez insists Bieber stop hanging around with his "new" friends because they are bad people. It so happens that the three singers the stories claim Selena Gomez doesn't like are all black males: Chris Brown, Sean Kingston and 'Lil Wayne. The stories mention their 'bad' pasts. Would they be saying this if these men were white?

"Bad Boys" Influencing Bieber? - NOT!

For Chris Brown it's the domestic violence incident with former girlfriend Rihanna. The stories fail to mention he's gone on TV programs to own up to it, to decry violence against women and apologize to Rihanna and others for his actions. He's talked about the abuse he witnessed from a step-father onto his mother when a child and how he will not let that be the path he goes down. Chris Brown is a good man and hardly someone Selena Gomez would tell Justin Bieber to stay away from.

The Daily Mail refers to Kingston as "Jamaican singer Sean Kingston" as if being from Jamaica was a crime in itself. The paper says "the final straw" was bringing him to her concert. In interviews, Kingston, 21, comes across as a kind, genuine and caring person, someone Gomez, or anyone else, would love to spend time with.

And finally, 'Lil Wayne is referred to as a criminal and while he was convicted of being in a car with an unregistered gun (it was his manager's) and some marijuana, he's never committed a serious offence or harmed anyone. The stories fail to mention he is the devoted father of four kids, a Christian who believes in treating people well, and a hard-working man.

Bieber, Gomez and Kingston: This is More Like it

So what really did happen that July night after Gomez' concert, when these sites say a break-up over Bieber hanging with these three occurred? Naturally we don't know but the odds are that it's far more likely that what was actually said was more along the lines of this (Warning - the following dialogue is speculation only. Intended to show the events as they were more likely to have happened!):

"Hey honey, great show. You were awesome," says Bieber. "All right. I'm outta here, back to L.A.. Have a great time until I catch up you with in August. I'll call you tons. Love you."

"Love you. Kiss," says Selena. "Mmmh. Oh, Sean, thanks for coming. Great to see you're getting well. And watch Justin's fans out there! They'll do anything to get near him."

"Don't worry. I'm from Jamaica," says Kingston. "We produce the best sprinters the world has known. I'll just make like Usain Bolt! And thanks for the show, Girl, you were hot."

"Goodnight everyone!!!"

There. No wringing of hands, no gnashing of teeth, no trashing of good men. True though? Who knows. It's speculation but far, far more close to what actually went down than the make believe stuff that, were this a better world, would not be fit to print.
